Gender at 12 Week U/s

I am 12 weeks pregnant and just had an ultrasound. The tech asked me if I wanted to know the sex. I told her I did but I thought it was way too early to tell. She said she couldn't say 100% at this time but was 80% sure it was a boy. I was just wondering if anyone else found out the sex this early and if it was correct or not. I have 3 boys but didn't find out the sex with any of them until at least 19 weeks. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I found out at 12 weeks that I was having a boy with my middle child. I was in the Navy at the time, and did not have any qualms with telling me what the sex was at 12 weeks. With my third child(also a boy) they would not say untill 19 weeks due to there "policy".

I was told at 16 weeks that my baby looked like it was a boy by 2 different drs, then at 20 weeks it was confirmed by the dr it was a girl. the others were wrong because it was too early. they have a 50/50 chance at getting it right and wrong. I think it's tooo early to tell. Wait to get anything until the 20 week confirmation.

A friend of mine was told boy at 8 weeks!!! Turns out they were right, but I think they can be more confident that they find something (boy) than when they don't (girl), as they could just be hiding well. I wouldn't get over excited either way until they know for sure, which is probably why they normally wait to say. Congratulations.

i found out the sex @ about 12 weeks wen i was pregnant with my daughter and it was indeed a girl. most precious little one ever god rest her soul. so yeah it can be correct but i'd say if u have a appt around 15 weeks or so ask them 2 look again just 2 be sure.

My U/S tech told me 12 weeks was too early to tell when I asked. But a friend of mine was told at her 12 wk U/S that she was having a girl. Turned out to be a boy at the 20 wk U/S. I think that's probably more likely than thinking it's a boy and turns out to be a girl. Either way, I'd wait to start painting or buying too many gender-specific things until you confirm with another U/S.

My first u/s's were scheduled for 13 weeks. The u/s dr says that sometimes he can tell that early.

For our first, he didn't want to say b/c he wasn't 100% positive, but my hubby pressured him. He said 80% girl. When we went back at 20 weeks, he said boy...and he was a boy.

For our second, at 13 weeks he said 100% boy, confirmed it at 20 weeks, and he was a boy.

I've heard that if they say boy it more than likely is a boy. But if they say girl, it could be wrong as the "parts" may not have been visible in the u/s. IDK.

I guess you'll find out at your next u/s for sure!

The only way you'll truly know the sex of your baby is when he/she is born. My aunt didn't even know she was having TWINS until birth! They never saw the second baby in any of her 3 ultrasounds! Although I will say this, a friend of mine was overseas on business for a month with his wife, and while they were over there they found out she was pregnant... 8 weeks pregnant. She thought she had food poisoning, but no, just nausea... anyway, they did an ultrasound to confirm, and they told her the sex, and they were right! But really, the only way you'll know for sure is when baby is born :) Won't you have another ultrasound @ 16 or 20 weeks to confirm?

I had to get an early ultra sound with my first baby at about 11 weeks and the tech said she wasn't 100% sure but she thought it was a boy. Yeah it turned out to be a GIRL! When I went in at 20 weeks to get my ultra sound I was pretty shocked. So there is a chance the tech is wrong.

I was told at 11w5d that I was having a boy. And, at 18 weeks and 22 weeks, confirmed I was still having a boy. I hope he doesn't decide to change when I have my sono in 2 weeks. (lol)

Not sure...we found out we were having a girl at a 20 week u/s and even then they were 80% sure. Good luck! (And congrats!) :-)

I've had a tech tell me the sex of one of my boys around the 10 week ultrasound. She was right, but if you have another ultrasound, I would have them check just to be sure.

I went for genetic testing at 13 weeks and the perinatologist was unable to tell because of the baby's position, however, I have several girlfriends who did genetic testing and had ultrasounds done at 12 and 13 weeks and their doctor's were spot on in accuracy for the sex. 3 of them were told they were having boys and they did, the other was told she was having a girl and she had a girl. So while I would say don't go out and buy him a race car bedding set, I would say it probably is accurate, and when you do the 20 week ultrasound hopefully it will confirm it!!!

Congratulations!!!

The ultrasound tech didn't tell us it was a boy at the 12 week u/s but we could tell from the pictures that it was probably a boy. And then at the 18 wk u/s it was confirmed that we were having a boy. My friend also has a 12 wk u/s picture from her son that shows he was a boy. So yes I would say you are most likely having another son.

Unless ultrasounds have advanced a lot in the past few years, I don't how you can accurately predict at 12 weeks. And as for 8-9 weeks as some posters said, I had an ultrasound done at 9 weeks for my first and 10 weeks for my second and it was really just a blob at 9 weeks and a little more advanced at 10 weeks. Ultrasounds are never 100%. I had a friend that got them weekly for 20 weeks, and every time they said she was having a boy. After hearing 20 times that it was a boy, she figured she was safe to paint the room blue. The day before her due date she went in and they said she was having a girl. She did have a girl. Another friend was told she was having a girl and was very surprised when they handed her a boy in the delivery room. I would say at 12 weeks it is a 50/50 guess. Wait a bit longer before you start believing it.

I had a friend who found out at 15 weeks first time and 16 weeks second time and it was both correct. However another friend was 16 weeks and had to go to ER because she was having some problems and they told her she was having a girl.....well at her 20 week u/s they found a boy part:)
I think 12 week is very early, but maybe the tech is a pro I do not know.
I would wait till later u/s to make sure.
