How old are your kids? Have you heard of meetup.com? I run a moms group on there, along with several other moms. It's a great way to make friends and find out about activities around the valley.

AMC has kids movies very cheap (they're on a specific day and time each week) and they have a nice child's snack pack very reasonably priced too.

The splash pads in Chandler are great! Check out the Chandler website at www.chandleraz.gov and look under leisure and lifestyle (tab at the top of the page) and there is information about their aquatic programs. There pools are also great for kids and are very inexpensive. Hope this helps!

The library is a great resource for free indoor entertainment for kids, you can play, read books, attend storytime & watch free movies during the summer.

Indoor play areas are great during the summer - either mall play areas or restaurant play areas.

Community pools aren't free, but they are pretty cheap.

Harkins Theatres does a summer movie fun program for kids for super cheap. You can pack your snacks to save money.

Last year Fry's Food partnered up w/the Phoenix Zoo & when you presented your VIP card, you got 2 free admissions, maybe they'll do it again this year.

Children's Museum of Phoenix does a free night once a month, check out their website for details.

In house playdates are great, too!

Hope I helped!
