Ok Mama's here is a question. I am going to a Fashion Show this weekend at Gaslite Manor in Aurora. It is being sponsored by Holy Angels Church St. Anne Society. The show features clothing from 1st communion thru grandmother of the bride attire. It sounds like a lot of fun. Raffles, door prizes etc. Tickets are not out of line $20 and they include lunch. I'm considering bringing my granddaughter. The question for me is whether a 6 year old could sit thru it? My granddaughter is very well behaved and I think would like it. But will other parents be mad that a child is there? It is open to the public so not a private thing. We will be searching for a first communion dress for her next year and would like to see her reaction and what she would like. But don't want to make other moms uncomfortable. So what do you think yes or no?

What can I do next?

As a mother of a pre teen girl, I have concerns that we are placing too much emphasis on fashion and outward appearances on our girls much younger these days. As a writer, I felt compelled to write about it. This short blog may help you decide http://marymind.wordpress.com/2010/07/19/sketchers-pretty...

Hi Sheri,
If your little one in well behaved and you believe she can sit for that time period, it shouldn't be a problem. I believe the others would get upset about it, if it was bratty little child who wouldn't sit still and be quiet. Other than that they would probably think she is the most
darling child. Hope you have a great time?

Yes, she should go. My girls would LOVE it and they are 6. She wouldn't have to sit and watch the whole time. You said you'd be looking for a dress for her too. So that makes it even more exciting for her. She'll remember it and enjoy it. Take her along.

Take her! It sounds like fun. I am sure she will have a great time. If she starts to get a little bored just be ready to leave a little early if you have to.

Yes, bring her! That sounds like a great outing for a grandmother and granddaughter. I might also bring along some things for her to do if she gets bored, like a little packet of paper and box of crayons, book and a small toy like a Polly Pockets set or something. What a lucky little girl! Have fun!

By all means, take her! What a grand opportunity to make a lovely memory with your granddaughter! Bring a few little quiet things to keep her busy IF she becomes bored...maybe a small drawing pad for her to re-create the designs she likes the best... Or parts of, or to make her own...

Have a WONDERFUL memorable time! all the others will only wish they had thought to bring their granddaughters! xo
