I've noticed that some brown spots are appearing on the carpet. What eco-friendly, economical cleaning solutions would you recommend?

I have tried all the baking soda, vinager, lemon juice and orange juice recipies. Save your money and sanity and start shopping with Melaleuca.

All of their products are eco-friendly, safe and are way more cost effective than anything you can buy at the grocery. I use their pre-spot laundry sain remover to treat any stain, even carpet spots and I use their sol-u-mel product to keep the dogs (when they were still learning) from "re-spotting" the carpet. I also know someone who uses their Tub & Tile product to keep her white carpets white with kids, dogs and Michigan snow. She puts the product in her carpet cleaning machine.

You can check them out at Melaleuca.com and click the link "get to know Melaleuca" My husband and i started shoppping with them a little over a year ago and we have saved about $500.

You have to be reffered by another customer to shop with them, so if you like what you see and want to try them out let me know and I'll be happy to get you started.

Rubbing Alcohol can cause chemical burns when used on its own and Hydrogen-peroxide is not eco-friendly.

L.,
I'm not sure how eco-friendly it is to be honest, but oxyclean is awesome! I've not had much luck with it in the laundry, but for cleaning carpets it rocks. I had moved into an apartment at one point in time, looked like it had beige carpet with a few coke stains from previous tennants. My husband cleaned the carpet with oxy clean, and it turned out the carpet was stark white! Totally freaked me out, lol. We've got a house now with hunter green carpet, and we still use oxy clean to clean up after the kids, dogs, cats, etc., and it still works great. The only thing it hasn't gotten out of my carpet is machine oil stains. I hope this helps.

Much depends on what the stains are from.
Food, dirt, and pet stains - hydrogen peroxide.
Ink stains - rubbing alcohol.
Wine stains - club soda.
