I did when I was 8. Instead of just taking them out, they were nice and let me stay in the hospital with some kind of IV drip. I did that for 3 days. If that hadn't worked, they were going to take them out. But why go through that if you don't have to?
My daughter did. I thought the ENT was just overly eager to do surgery, so we did nothing when she was 3, even though she'd had many, many ear infections. By the time she was 5 or 6, we became concerned about her snoring, and our inability to communicate because she always sounded like she had a cold. Arby's came out "ommys." After a speech therapist asked whether she had enlarged adenoids, I reconsidered, and got her adenoids and tonsils removed. One of the best things we did. We understand each other a whole lot better now, and she sleeps soundly. However, she says she wasn't allergic to grass before the surgery, but now she is. I told her she was before, but she couldn't actually breathe through her nose! If you want to go this route, let me know. We found a fantastic ENT-much better than the original one who was too full of himself and kept patients waiting forever....
Do you mean "Adenoids" ?
Our daughter had enlarged adenoids and so they removed them. They were discovered when she was having so many ear infections so they placed tubes in her ears and removed the adenoids. It did not take long and she has been fine ever since.
my 6 yr old had them removed at 11 months
my youngest will be 14 months on friday and she is scheduled for monday to have surgery
she has had 4 sinus infections
My two year old had adenoids the size of a grown man's. His ped recommended a Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT) specialist and the specialist recommended they get yanked (along with tonsils). My son has never had an ear ache or ear infection since.

Hi J. B. None of my children had enoids but my husband's niece had them. And they were removed. This was over thirty something years ago. Ask your child's peditrican and see what he/she says.
My children both had enlarged adenoids. Our ENT removed them, along with their tonsils. They've been WONDERFUL ever since. They sleep better, they don't snore anymore, no more strep throat, and they catch about 75% fewer colds!
My daughter had enlarged adenoids as of last week, actually. I thought she had fallen and bumped her head the bump was so big, so I rushed her to the doctor. No concussion and no ear problems were found, although he saw that she had some mosquito bites on her neck. He said that sometimes bug bites (mosquitoes, fleas, lice) can cause the adenoids to enlarge in kids who are very sensitive to that sort of thing. His advice was to wait it out and use Benadryl, so we have. As of today the adenoids are going down to their normal size. I had never realized they could enlarge due to allergic reaction, so that may be something to consider. (And if so, then perhaps Benadryl could help?)
My daughter had enlarged adenoids which started causing her problems at a very young age (3 months old). They actually put her on steroid ear drops that we put in her nose and that helped for awhile (I can't remember the name of the medicine). After awhile it stopped working so they put her on an antacid ---- which I guess can help them go down but that didn't really work for her so at 7 months old we had them removed. It was such a simple procedure and literally zero recovery time since our ENT did not cauterize them. We gave her tylenol and motrin for the first two days and then she was all better. I would say that if you haven't taken the child to an ENT (ear,nose and throat) doctor you should do that first. Good luck.
