Cycle Question, Slightly TMI

my doctor has written a script for me to have an FSH test done. because i wasn't sure exactly when my period would start this month, it's scheduled for may. here's where i'm confused: i know that Day 1 of your cycle is the first day of bleeding, but is it the first day you see signs of blood, but not a lot, or the first day you have full-on bleeding? for example, late yesterday (sunday) i had a few streaks, but nothing heavy. there was a small amount of blood on the pad this morning, but today is the first day of full-on bleeding. would i count today as day 1, or yesterday?

even though i'm not doing the test until next month, i need to know so that i can track exactly for next month. i never even thought to ask the doctor about this last week, go figure. thank you for any answers!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for your answers! I sort of figured that Monday would count as Day 1, so I'm glad to see that was the majority of responses that I got. Thanks again for the responses!!

From years of infertility, my OB always said that my flow didn't start until it fell on my underwear or a pad. Anything, no matter how much or how red, that was only wiped was considered spotting. In addition, anything after midnight is the next day, not the night before. Good luck!

My periods have always been irregular, so I always keep track of them. My gyn always told me the first day of bleeding is the first day of your period..spotting never counts.

Hi, M.:
How come you think you need to spend health care dollars for this test?

Are you on any BC methods?
Just want to know.

I've always considered the 1st day of full on bleeding as day one. Good luck!

I would say that the first day of the cycle would be when you first see any blood, no matter how little or how much, either on your underwear/pad or when you wipe.

full on bleeding. Anything else is spotting between cycles :)

I count the first day from the time I see any blood.

Even if it is just when I wipe- or just some light spotting even, I always count that as my day 1.
