Crib Attachment Soother

I'm looking for a recommendation on a crib attachment soother. I have looked at ocean wonders and Rain forest friends and I'm not sure what to get. I want one that plays soothing music and would be easy as my daughter gets older for her to turn it back on. She is only 7 months now and likes her mobile but I think she is getting old enough to enjoy something new. I would love to hear what other Moms have used and what other kids like. Thanks in advance. I'm sure I'll get great responses.

What can I do next?

My daughter had the "flutterbye" one with the birds first, and loved that - but the motor seemed to get loud when the batteries got low... and that drove us crazy (not her though). We then replaced it with the Rainforest one, and she loves it. She's going to be 4 in May and she STILL uses it every night. When she wakes up in the middle of the night and doesn't need us for anything (bathroom, etc.), she'll just pop it on and go back to sleep. It's great! It's nice quiet music and you can shut off all the extras (movement, lights, etc.). We actually just use the music because the bluish light after being asleep was nearly blinding for her... I guess that was one downfall, but we only use if for the music and she does love that.

Both my daughters love the ocean wonders attachment. My oldest would play it whenever she needed it and now my youngest - 8 months although doesn't turn it on I do hear her playing with the spinner. I also have one of those stuffed animals - ours is a bunny - that pulls down and plays music. That she can pull on herself and seems to like that. It is tied to the crib next to the ocean wonders toy. I am sure they all do about the same thing so pick the one you like best.

Hi Rebbeca,
I am a mom of 4 beautiful children. In my experiences the most soothing thing to put in the crib with my kids that they just loved was a Glo Worm. It is so simple with its soothing light up face and the music it plays. Your child can hug it and receive soothing, lulling and security all at the same time.
Best of luck.

People recommended the Ocean Wonders Aquarium, so I registered for that for my shower. My daughter who is now 9 months old loves it. She turns it on in the morning while she's playing in her crib (originally kicking it with her feet when smaller, now using her hands). It has different songs, volumes, and you can turn on/off the bubbles and light. It plays for about 15 minutes, which is usually just long enough for her to fall asleep. It also has a remote which is a lifesaver if you're trying to be stealth. We've also gotten the same-theme stuffed Seahorse, which you press his belly and it plays soothing music. She has that in her crib at daycare. I think it's a good purchase.

hi R.~
we had a crib soother for our son that played classical music, vibrated under his mattress and did some other things... i am away right now or else i would go look for it to tell you more... we found it at babies r us... it was great!!! and i believe that there was a sensor on it to turn on when our little guy sqwaked a little... our son is two now and we haven't used it in ages which is the other reason i cannot remember much more. i really hope this helps. i would just ask someone at bru for the soother that vibrates. good luck!

Hi R.,

My son is almost 18 months and has had the rainforest soother since he was born. It's very easy for him to turn it on and off himself, and he loves it.

We have the rain forest one and our daughter loves it. We also have a lamb that makes noises like the ocean or a heart beat. Finally we also have a turtle that lights stars on the ceiling. She likes them all and I'd recommend any of them. Now that she is a bit older she has started turning them on herself. It sounds from the other responses in the chain though that you'd be best off with one of your first tow choices - the rain forest sounds or the aquarium.

My daughter has a pooh bear that plays twinkle twinkle little star and shows projected images of pooh characters on the ceiling. She still wants it in her room on her bedside stand and she is 3 1/2. She likes it to play when I kiss her goodnight. There is a big star on his belly to push, and a remote for the parent. Deb

My 7 month old son has the Ocean Wonders Aquarium in his crib and he LOVES it. He turns it on and off at night when he's about to fall asleep and then again in the morning while he's playing in his crib. He is able to turn it on and off himself with his hands, although I've seen him use his feet too! It's really helped him fall asleep as well as it's bought us some extra time in the mornings when he has already woken up but is just playing in his crib. I love to watch him interact w/ it, I can tell he really likes it!
