Hi moms,

I need some suggestions on covering up my butterfly tattoo that I have on my wrist. It's about 2 in wide and 4 in long need to cover it up so that I am professional at work. I know I can wear long sleeves, but not always. Is there anything else you can think of? T.I.A.

What can I do next?

You could use Kat Von D's tattoo concealer. It works very well! Or, depending on size, you could wear a bandaid. I had a coworker do that to cover initials on her wrists when she worked for a bank...

Good luck!!!

Bracelttes. Or in Respose to what another poster said NO you don't have to cover with dark colors if you want a new tattoo. I had a BLACK and RED one on my arm and had it covered with flowers, none of which are dark. But there's a makeup you can get from sephora that will cover it.

Smart Cover is what i used to cover the one on my foot for a while. You may also look for a wide braclet or watch band depending on how large it is.

-makeup or makeup plus a couple nice bracelts
-thick bracelet/cuff (most are leather)
-thick watch
-TatJacket http://www.amazon.com/TatJacket-Full-Arm-Cover-17-inches/...
-a LONG necklace twisted around your wrist a few times
-make a homemade "friendship bracelet", but instead of embroidery thread, use a favorite/pretty fabric and knot it or braid it like you did when you were a kid.

a girl in my class bought a bunch of coverups specifically for this...

I can't remember what they are called, but they are basically flesh-colored fake tattoos (like what you buy kids...) If your tattoo is especially vivid, it may take a double layer... but it covered hers very well.

Some people also cover the area with a large band-aid or something like that...

I had a chick tattoo on my wrist (think the size of a dime with feet sticking out) and it faded and I, too, wanted something more 'professional' in my computer work setting. I opted for a cross, however, it ended up being a lot bigger and darker than the chick. But I do not care because I love it!! You can always buy a large bangle or watch to cover it up, too!

Remember - you will only be able to cover up dark colors with darker colors and black can only be covered with black.

Good luck!

Could you please tell us how big it is because some watches could cover a small one. Or if you would like a larger bracelet (this trend seems to be coming back!)

Sorry K.P's answer wasn't there when I typed this...

I knew people who just wore thick beaded bracelets to cover theirs. Or a large watch works well too.

How big is it? I would wear a chunky watch or bangle/cuff bracelet.

I need to cover one of mine sometimes. It is all black. I color over it with a light pink lip liner, then apply the Kat Von D cover up. Works really well with the lip liner layer, not as well without it.

A gal I work with has a tattoo that wraps around her wrist - she often wears her watch or a bracelet over it.

Honestly, most people don't notice the little bit of it that shows - it just blends in with whatever jewelry she is wearing.

bracelets, thick band watch.

I believe there is a "foundation" you can purchase to put over your tattoo during the day as well. I don't have tattoos so I really can't help you much. I do know that friends of mine who have tat's that work in a "professional environment" use make-up to cover it up.

I don't know why you would need to cover it up unless someone has complained. It doesn't sound like it's offensive in any way.

Good luck!!

Dermablend from Ulta works great.

Don't bother covering it with a "flesh colored" tattoo, it will only appear muddled and not blend if you happen to have a tan.

Laser tattoo removal may be an option for you if you want rid of it permanently. It is quite a process (going thru it myself now on 2 I hate, keeping one) and expensive.

One woman at work wears a cuff all of the time.

Is your work requiring that you cover it up, or are you worrying about it on your own? What type of work do you do?

Honestly, if it's a pretty tattoo, and you're not an attorney type-high level CEO, etc., and you aren't required to cover it up, maybe you don't need to worry about it.

Perhaps look for thicker watches, bracelets, etc. that would cover most of it?

Walmart sells the Hard Candy brand of makeup. They have a concealer that comes in a large tube called Glamoflauge. It also includes a little concealer pencil. It's made to cover tattoos just like the Kat Von D tattoo concealer. The pencil is to use on the outer edges of the tattoo after you've used the concealer on the majority of the tattoo. Don't forget to cover it with powder to help it stay put. Since this isn't your face, you can safely use baby powder to set the liquid makeup without worrying about it breaking you out. It's a bit more heavy duty than other powders.

Wrist watch, bracelets?
I was taking a paralegal class with a female lawyer and she had one on her leg and back, she was always trying to find something to cover it. Could you have it (ouch) repainted in flesh colors? Is it something that is very offensive? People seem to be pretty adapting to this these days.

My daughter had a friends name tattooed on her ankle due to his suicide. Then she grew up and decided to get rid of it. She had them do a very nice floral/ivy looking design. It is very feminine and his name is completely covered.
