Could You Wear Your Rings Throughout Pregnancy (Or After?)

I'm almost 7 months pregnant and had to take off one of my rings today! I think with my son, I had to take off my wedding ring but not until the last few weeks. Then, after baby, I had to have it re-sized 1/2 size bigger because my fingers never shrunk back down! I've only gained 6-7 lbs this pregnancy thus far but this seems crazy to me!

Did your rings fit throughout your pregnancies and did anyone never fit them again despite losing (most ) of the baby weight?

What can I do next?

No, my second child is 18-months old now and I haven't been able to wear my wedding ring since my second-trimester with my first child! I'm going to have the ring resized once we decide we're done having kids, but in the meantime, my hubby bought me a less expensive larger ring to wear. ^_^

ETA: Until my husband bought the second ring, I wore my wedding ring on a chain around my neck.

I am 31 weeks, and have just started having trouble taking them off. However, it is also 80 degrees here right now, which doesn't help. I don't remember when I had to stop wearing them with my daughter, but it seems like longer than this. I also started that pregnancy a few pounds heavier, and gained more weight up to this point. I did not have any problem putting them on later, after I lost some weight.

If you can't wear a ring now, no biggie. It's been so humid that even those of us who aren't pregnant are swelling.

If you still can't wear your ring a year from now, use this opportunity to pick out a new ring for yourself!

I rarely wear my original wedding ring (with the big 'ol "rock"). That matched my young 20's lifestyle. Today I wear a nice flattened gold band (an Irish Claddaugh) with a discrete diamond. I picked it out myself and love it. I'm very active and this ring fits my current lifestyle so much better. It's the only piece of jewelry I ever wear.

Both rings came off with all the swelling throughout pg. I was able to wear them again after my first, but after my second, I had to get my engagement resized. It's a thicker band, so I'm guessing that's why it was tighter than my wedding ring. I didn't want to wear my engagement ring with a baby anyway. I was so worried I would scratch my baby! Swelling mainly happens in the feet and hands, and it doesn't matter if you gain a few pounds or a few dozen. It's water retention and blood pressure that affects it. Wait until after the baby- maybe this time you'll have your "before" fingers back!

How warm is it where you are at? My last two kids were May babies. I couldn't tell you how my rings fit because I never tried to take them off but my ankles were huge the last couple of weeks! Not because of any weight gain the heat makes you swell. :( I don't understand how anyone makes it through the summer pregnant. I would have never left the house!

Oh to answer the actual question my rings are the same size they were when I was 16. I did have to take them off at the hospital and they came right off and after I had them went right back on.

Nope, I used to wear 3 rings total every day. I had two that were just simple sterling silver ones and my wedding ring. My wedding ring I grew out of after my first pregnancy sometime in the 7th month but my other two rings I could move to other fingers to fit. After my first baby I was able to put my wedding ring back on as normal but my second pregnancy I grew out of it really quick, I think it was by month 4 or so and after that pregnancy it was tight to put on, but I could get it on, but I really only started wearing it when my hubby and I would go out. Now with my third pregnancy, it's like my knuckles changed shape as I can't get it on at all! It's sad, I keep thinking if I lose more weight it'll fit, but let's be honest, I just plain need to go get the thing re-sized if I ever want to wear it again.

My rings fit fine with my first. I couldn't take them off for about the last three months with my second, but my fingers went back down to normal size after giving birth. With my third, my fingers swelled up right away and I ended up having them sized (even thought I lost all but about five lbs of my baby weight). I am 25 weeks now and so far, my rings still fit comfortably. I refuse to have them sized any bigger anyway- its too expensive!

I wore my rings throughout--actually they were a bit big at the end. I tend to lose weight during pregnancy and after weigh less than before. My sisters could not wear their rings and had to go up in sizes. They had the same thing with shoes also.

I like you had to stop with my wedding band but my engagment ring was bigger and I could wear it for a little while longer. Then after I was able to wear it for a while but now I can't. I still need to get them resized.

My rings fit the whole time, and they slide around my finger now. I swear my feet and fingers got smaller after my pregnancy!!

Nope, wedding ring did not fit throughout pregnancies.

I eventually bought a simple gold wedding band with my hands in and out of soapy water all day between diapers, baths, dishes.

I was able to wear mine all through out both of my pregnancies. I did take them off for the delivery because of swelling, but about a week later I was able to put them back on with no problems

I don't recall at what point I took them off, but no, I couldn't wear them all the way through. I wore them on a chain around my neck. They fit fine now, but it was a few weeks/month. I think by the time I could fit back in my jeans. I gained 40 lbs, lost 30.
