Ladies, I feel like I have searched high and low for a football player costume for my 2 year old son (he needs a size 4 though)!! I am at the point of true desperation here, we have a party on Monday, and then of course Halloween is in a week! My girls are all 3 cheerleaders, so the football player would be so cute. I looked at a few costume shops, every store I could think of in Grapevine Mills mall, and even an athletic warehouse. I do need to check at Dicks or something still, but does anyone have any suggestions?? Or a used costume you are willing to sell..heck I would even be willing to borrow it and return it to you! If you have any ideas, please help, including cute ways to create my own costume with a Dallas Cowboys jersey from Walmart or something! HELP!!!

What can I do next?

You could order one from the NFL shop online. They have an option of expedited shipping if nothing else works out for you.

I saw some Dallas Cowboys kids costumes at Target in the Cowboys section. I can't remember the sizes but I know they were for little kids. Another place to look would be play it again sports or Academy.

If you found him a jersey, maybe get some white sweatpants, and push the ankle up to mid calf. I don't know where you could find a helmut, but I would think that sporting goods store should have them. To make it look like he has on shoulder pads, create some out of cardboard and use ribbon to tie them on. Of course, don't forget the black lines under the eyes! You can just use black facepaint for that. I've never actually created a football player costume before, so I hope it helps!

My 6 year old is going as a Texas Ranger. He is using his baseball pants from his baseball team and just a Ranger T-shirt we got last summer. For a football player (which I think sounds adorable with 3 cheerleaders by the way :), I'd get a Cowboys or other football team jersey. I've seen them at Academy - Cowboys, Longhorns, and Aggies. Then maybe some white stretch pants so they are tight or sweatpants. Pull them to the knee with matching socks pulled up to the pants. For the pads, I like the previous poster's suggesstion of cardboard. I wouldn't be able to make that work though because I'm just not crafty enough, and knowing me, my son would look like he had cardboard under his shirt. Maybe you could try some small pillows or roll up some old towels and tape them to an undershirt he wears under the jersey? For helmets, I'd look around at Academy. They have a great selection of sporting equipment at reasonable prices. Maybe they have a super small size that's plain white you can decorate with stickers or spray paint or something.

My son is going to be a Dallas Cowboy for Halloween too, I was searching everywhere and then found exactly what I was looking for at ToysRUs of all places! The TRU in Lewisville to be exact. In their outdoor play toys area on the isle with the footballs, bottom shelf there are sets with a jersey, pants and a helmet, I believe it cost $39.00 but given the prices online with shipping etc I was willing to pay it! There are also iron on numbers so he can go as his favorite player! Or his Daddy's favorite player anyways! Good luck! My son is 3 and I got him the small - size 4-6 it is perfect!
