I would like to try using cloth diapers, and have no experience with this. I am staying at home now and my daughter is 11 months today. I have read some articles and talked to some other moms already. I am looking for any good brands, places to go to get started, cleaning services, or experiences you have had with this. Thanks in advance! :)

What can I do next?

Hi A.~

I'd say being interested in cloth diapers is at least half your way to getting there:-) We cloth diaper our son (though we didn't with our daughter, now 5) and we really love it. First of all, even though there is a higher initial investment overall it saves money, we rarely have any kind of diaper rash, they come in cute colors and prints, and environmentally friendly:-)

We started using cloth when our son was 2 weeks old (after circ healed and cord stump fell off) and were using fitteds with covers when he was a newborn. Some mamas prefer that route, but I've found that we really like 'pocket' diapers (Fuzzi Bunz, Bum Genuis, Blueberry Minkies) the best. Even daycare uses them for us. I'd recommend checking out the BabyCenter.com website and they have a board called 'Diapering Your Baby' which is full of great information and wonderful moms more than willing to share adventures in cloth diapering. The other recommendation I would make is to start of trying a few different kinds of cloth diapers to see which ones you like the best and get the best fit from. I bought many of mine used off of the BabyCenter diapering board and off of Diaperswappers.com and have had great results. All diapers I purchased used were in great condition with no problems or stains or anything...just cheaper. Definitely a good idea for trying out some different things.

Feel free to contact me directly if I can answer any other CD'ing questions!

We love our fuzzi bunz! There was a long post on this board a few months back with lots and lots of advice - you might try and search the archives?

We use our own washer & dryer, we have a sprayer that attaches to the toilet water line to spray off any solids that don't just fall right off. It's honestly very easy! good luck - warning, it can be addictive! :)

Hi Amanda, I got my cloth diapers from a local mom distributer. http://www.comfycozydiapers.com/home
her services are terrific and fast! I am using the Pocket Change ones now. Which ever you choose, I think you will like the snaps better than the velcro.

Good Luck, D..

We have used Mother Ease with both boys (the same set) and love them. It is a one size fits all, so you only have to buy on size to last all the way through potty training. Go to their website and check them out.
