I'm considering taking my 2 year old to Chicago via the train.. what things did you like in Chicago for that age group?

Any thoughts?

What can I do next?

Check out the Children's Museum at Navy Pier, and Shedd's aquarium. The Natural History Museum is great, but it's a little difficult and long with a 2 year old (I think that's about the age my daughter was when we went)... Have fun!

Oh my... prefect age! The Children's Musuem is a MUST!!! The aquarium is fabulous too. If it is warm...go the beach for a day (you don't have to swim).

Probably a little too young for the planetarium. We took our son and he slept while we were able to catch a few shows.

My husband recently took our 28 month old (so a little older than your little one) to Chicago to visit his sister for a week (he was off of work due to a broken hand while I still had to work...) They went to the Field Museum and he said taht my daughter LOVED it.

I agree with other posters as well on the Children's Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and the botanical garden (which IS a bit north of the city - but very close to where my sister in law lives so we've been there a few times).

Sounds like you got the 2 best options already while your in Chicago!
Just remember the train will be a long boring trip, so bring along loads of distractions and snacks!! I travel often with my boys and always need to have my bag of tricks..have fun!

It's a little ways north, but if you will have transportation when you get there, the Chicago Botanic Garden is really nice.

Our son had a really good time there. Good activity if the weather agrees.
