I was just wondering can you pregnant even if you don't get a cycle? See, I was on the depo shot but got off in aug 06 so now im playing the waiting game, waiting for cycle to start showing up. Can you still get pregnant even if you don't get a cycle? Oh and I am not pregnant.... My doc said No you cant get pregnant until you get a cycle but I dont know if this is true or not... anyone have any idea if this is true?
After being on the depo shot it took my body a full year both times to become regular again. With both of my boys, it was almost a year to the day after stopping the shot that I got pregnant. But then again, everyone's body is different. They usually say after stopping the shot it will take about a year to concieve...so if you want to plan a pregnancy, you really have to think ahead.
no, it's not true. You can get pregnant before a cycle, you only need ovulation. It is possible to get pregnant before you ever get your first period, so this would be possible too.
I have PCOS and had to take Provera to make "aunt flow" visit me. You could ask your doc about that. It makes your body think you are ovulating and brings on the cycle...maybe that's all you need to become regular again.
It took me 3 months to get a period after I was off the depo shot. I was also only on it for 6 months (two shots). I only got one period and I was pregnant the next month. The dr told me that it was unusual that it worked that fast, most have to wait six months to a year for it to happen. I think it just depends on your body.

Not sure if it will totally answer the question, but I have known many people with incredibly irregular cycles that have concieved. I have know people who have been told they can not carry children to give birth to perfectly healthy children.
This is my belief, (maybe it's because my daughter was blessidly unplanned.) :)
-You can always get pregnant, unless you're not having sex. (But even in high school, I swore I was going to get pregnant from kissing. Blame my parents.)
I conceived Ava on the ring- with a condom. It's puzzling... it's downright strange... but- when these things are suppossed to happen, they happen.
For now? Be careful if you are waiting to have another little one. Always use a back-up form.
I'm surprised your doctor told you that you wouldn't get pregnant if you didn't have a cycle. Always assume you CAN- until you take measures against it. (That's my rule.)

Having your period is the END of a cycle, you ovulate (release an egg) 9 to 12 days before your period. So I would think that you ovulate before you know that your cycle is back and have a chance of getting pregnant before your period returns.
I was on depo for about 3 years and I got my period 2 months after going off it, but that was sooner than average. I've read that it can take women up to 18 months to become fertile again after going off depo.

If your not ovulating, you can't get pregnant. If you ovulate, you will get your period. The only way you could end up Pregnant is if you ovulate, when you aren't expecting to, since you're not sure when your cycle is coming back.
