I would like to actually BAKE with my kids this year. We normally do sugar cookies for Santa, but I think Santa might want some other varities this year.

So...give me your best recipes! When I Google them, so many come up!!

I want to make at least Snickerdoodles, Oatmeal Raisin, Chocolate Chip, and White Chocolate Chip. But if you have other amazing ones please send them too!!!

We always make Oreo Balls, and the kids have a blast with those messy little balls of heaven.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

M. of 1 - Oreo Balls are the most amazing treat you will ever eat - and so easy! Similar to truffles (yours sound divine!!)

It's a 1 to 1 ratio of a pack of oreo cookies and a block of cream cheese. Put the Oreo's in a blender to get them to a fine consistency and then add the cream cheese in with the cookies to a bowl. Just mix until all of the crumbs are mixed in - takes a little bit of time. Then roll make lots of little balls, place them on parchment paper, and freeze them. Use a double boiler to melt white chocolate and roll the balls in chocolate. Refreeze or at least refrigerate!

ETA - Those Oreo balls are calorie-free, correct!!!! Yikes - I can't wait to make them.

What is an Oreo ball??

My best recipie is a bit time consuming but is one hell of a chocolate cookie! BTW - they don' go flat - they go from a dough ball to a sort of round puff with a flat bottom.

2c.(12oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/3 c. butter
1 c.sugar
3 eggs
1and1/2 tsp.vanilla
1/2 c. flour
2 Tbsp. baking cocoa
1/4 tsp.baking powder
1/4 tsp.salt
confectioners sugar

In microwave melt together unsweetened chocolate, 1 cup chocolate chips and butter.
Cool about 10 minutes.
In an electric mixing bowl, beat sugar and eggs 2 minutes.
Beat in vanilla and chocolate mixture. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
Beat into the chocolate mixture.
Stir in by hand, 1 c. remaining chocolate chips. Cover and chill
at least 3 hours.
Roll dough into small balls.

or parchment paper on pans.
Bake @ 350 for 10 to 12 min.or until lightly puffed and set.

I posted this one in answer to someone else's question earlier this week:

People go crazy for these and they look very festive:

Corn Flake Cookies

2 egg whites
1 Cup sifted Confectioners sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 Cup shredded coconut
2 Cups corn flakes
1 6-ounce package chocolate chips
1/2 tsp vanilla
Candied Cherries (red) - usually sold in the baking section of the grocery store

Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry

Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff and satiny (a long time - maybe 5 minutes).

Add salt.

Hand mix in the rest of the ingredients with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula.

Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet.

Using two spoons or a mini ice-cream scoop, place rounded spoonfuls of the cookie mixture on the parchment (e.g. similar shape and spacing as if baking chocolate-chip cookies).

Cut candied cherries in half and place a half-cherry in the center of each cookie.

Bake at 300 degrees for 25 minutes. Let cool slightly before removing.

Parchment paper is non-negotiable! Before I discovered parchment paper, I would lose half the cookies trying to remove them from the pan.

Everybody loves these. I make 5 or 6 kinds each Christmas, but these always win the most compliments.

The best cookies I made last year were off the allrecipes.com website. I made em cause I love ginger and they had so many reviews I had to give it a try. They are by far the best cookies I have ever made- and I try 5 new cookie recipes and 10 old ones every holiday. I tell everyone about this recipe- it is that good. Also, two other pieces of cookie advice. Line your trays with parchment paper (found everywhere in baking section) to make cookies never stick and clean up a breeze. Second tip: Put a piece of bread in the tin with the cookies. It keeps them soft and yummy. Works very well. Happy cooking.
