Can anyone suggest a book for my husband about the father daughter relationship? I have a 4 year old and my husband is just looking for some good direction and encouragement in how to influence our daughter in a positive way.

"Do Princesses Really Kiss Frogs?" (Carmela LaVigna Coyle) is about hiking with dad. It's a great balance to the princess onslaught. Also, Garrison Keillor of NPR fame wrote a book of songs called "Daddy's Girl" with an accompanying CD. It's illustrated by Robin Priess Glasser (also did Fancy Nancy) and includes vignettes of life with Dad. We've enjoyed these two books.

James Dobson has a new book out called Bringing up Girls. I've heard good things about it.

I do not have any specific titles to give yet, but I have been looking into books with this subject not because my hubby needs it but I think it might be helpful as she gets older on how to understand what she is going through (she is only 4 years old right now but he is already worried about dating and so on).

Anyway this is a website I found a few days ago that seems to have a lot of good titles, I will be checking some of them out at the library today :)

If you don't get a title recommendation here, go to Amazon on line in the books section and put in some key words like "daddy girls influence" or some such. See what pops up. Or "fathers of girls." when you get suggested titles, you can read what it is about, read reviews from other readers and sometimes expert reviewers, and about the author. There should be a wealth of information since studies show how important this is to a girls of all ages. It also helps to have one on one time. He should know what to do and not to do so that a girl will appreciate good manners but not think that a boy can do so much more or supposed to "take care of her financially."
