My son will be 10 in October and he has no clue what he wants to do for his birthday this year! Does anyone have any suggestions on a place in the Plano/Richardson Area? He has also informed me that he is too old for bounce houses so Jump Town is out! Thank you for any advice!

What can I do next?

Amazing Jake's at the Collin Creek Mall. They have laser tag, a climbing wall, race cars, mini-golf and tons of other things to do. My 9 year old nephew LOVED it this summer.

If he likes Harry Potter type stuff. Great Wolf Lodge has the coolest thing- Magic Quest. You could take a small group? I think it is btwn $10-15 per person. They get a wand and travel the entire lodge zapping things that talk and tell them where to go next. I saw a ton of tweens doing this!

How about Amazin' Jakes at the Collin Creek Mall? They have a rock climbing wall (sneakers required), laser tag, mini-golf, arcade games, etc. The website is http://www.amazingjakes.com/index.html

If you son is into Webkinz, Einstein Kidz in Frisco offers an awesome Webkinz party. Otherwise, I would go with the rock climbing or swimming options.

I have no idea how far you are willing to drive but in Mesquite they have a new place called Incredible Pizza. They have a mini bowling alley, go carts, and all kinds of video games for kids along with skeeball. I am not sure of the group rates but hear they are pretty reasonable.

This is a very different and unusual party, but I have done it with both of my boys at ages 9, 10 and 13. We all met at the DART rail station (we live in Garland, but you could take the one on Central) and ride the DART train downtown. The first time, I had made reservations for them to ice skate at the Americas Ice Garden downtown. It is at the first downtown rail stop. We ordered pizza from the downtown Dominos and I had brought a birthday cookie, since I thought it would travel better than a cake. Well, they only ice skated for about 30 minutes, because they had so much more fun exploring the big buildings. They rode escalators, elevators, walked through sky tunnels. You have to be careful at the Plaza of the Americas, because they have security that will fuss at them if they are too rowdy. But we also stopped at CityPlace. There are HUGE 2 story escalators and elevators that go sideways and not many people around to bother them. No security to fuss at them. They played there for over an hour and had a blast. After the first time, I didn't bother to arrange the ice skating, this saved me about $75. It ends up being a very inexpensive party and a memorable one. My husband and I take only 10 kids, so that we can keep up with them. We have also gone to the West End and walked around. Often they have street performers, etc. Each time we have done this, the kids all say it is the best birthday party they have ever been to. The party usually ends up lasting 5 or 6 hours (which may be more than you want to do), but they are having SO much fun, that we hate to end it. It is a real urban experience for our suburban kids.

My neice is turning 10 in October as well. Her Mom and I have been considering a carnival theme at their house. You could cook out, have games and prizes and invite family and friends. Good luck on whatever you choose and God Bless.

WhirlyBall would be a blast and there is also a skate park/bike park in ALlen that is free to use and my 9 year old son went to a party there and had a blast! Everyone brought their bikes nad helmets, they had cake and water balloon fights etc. The goody bag was a cd burned with the kids favorite songs on them! I am hoping to do this for my son when he turns 10 next year!
