Hi Moms,
I have two children. My first was breast fed for 6 mos then went on formula. He was allergic to cow milk formula and i had to use soy. I used similac isomil with him simply because i was receiving $5 off checks in the mail monthly. My daughter is now 4.5 mos and she's had a little bit of enfamil with lipil. She's had that since the hospital gave me samples of it and now i am receiving $5 and $7 checks for Enfamil. I know of some moms that just swear by certain brands and only the best for their baby. Dare I ask this question....how do you know what formula brand is the BEST for your baby? i've gone to websites, but how in the world do you decide?
thanks for your input.
J.

I had a lot of free samples also. So I tried Enfamil, Similac and Good Start to see which one my baby did best with. We ended up using Good Start and still do. My baby tolerated this one the best. He spit up a lot and was constipated with the other 2. I think its up to the baby!!

Honestly, I'm not sure if there's any way to really tell what is the *best* brand for our babies.
I think most Moms just go with which formula they feel is the healthiest and works the best for their baby.

I personally chose the Enfamil since it is recommended by most doctor's and pediatricians.
I never actually researched which brand of formula was better since Enfamil seemed to keep him very healthy and growing good.
However, there were a few times we had to switch the type of Enfamil due to colic and spitting up and found that Gentlease and the A.R. Lipil worked really good but it all comes down to which formula works best for your baby.

When he turned 1 there was a time I went to the grocery store to buy his Toddler Enfamil and they were all out so I tried the Similac toddler formula and he seemed to be less constipated on it.
Well, I did eventually put him back on the Enfamil since it offered a better amount of vitamins.
I'm sure your baby will due just great on Enfmail! : )

I believe each child is different and will react to certain formulas differently as well. I have an almost 6 month old son...we first started with similac which was suggested by our pediatrician. Then I came across an "off brand" at Sam's Club called Maker's Mark, which on the label is compared exactly to the Enfamil Lipil named brand. My son doesn't seem to be constipated with this one as he was with similac and it's milky white and not yellow like other brands. He seems to be doing well. It's also MUCH less expensive than name brands(about $19.00 for 3 lbs). Good luck.

Hi J.,

Nestle Good Start was our absolute favorite. I started my daughter on Enfamil since that was the choice at the hospital. But after a few months, my daughter wouldn't tolerate anymore and we bought a rotton batch of it at the store (I guess the container had been opened and the air pressure soured the powder). Anyway, we loved Nestle and never had any problems with it.

My son did well with the Enfamil Lipil. The hospital gave him similac and he always made this face like it tasted bad and the pediatrician told us that Enfamil was better anyway. We've only used Enfamil since then. It's also the only one that actually looks like real milk once it's mixed. The others are kind of yellow. If you want to see which one works best for your baby, buy the smallest sized can in a few different brands and see which one she likes better.

J.,
I dont think there is one great brand . I have three children, two of whom were on formula. My daughter I strted on Similac and she was so constipated I tried Isomil and she did very well so when I had my son I just used that with him also. I also have three sisters all of who mhave 2-4 children each and they all used Isomil, after trying SImilac, Enfamil, Nutramagen...
Good luck,K.
