Has anyone used those storage bags that you vacuum the air out of?
I've always wanted to try but don't want to spend $$ on something that isn't going to work.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I did, and they suck. No pun intended. The bag ripped after only two weeks and boom they just inflated again.

Skip them.

I purchased the "squeeze the air out" ones AND the "vacuum the air out" ones.

The vacuum the air out ones win hands down.

Unfortunately, they suck too.

A) They will never stack. Never.

B) You don't really save much space, since the system is more about air tight storage.

C) The air tight portion only works when you click your heels 3 times, make a sacrifice and wear your lucky t-shirt. Sometimes.

D) There is no use for ripped/torn bags.

We have switched to those giant totes with the lids that are stackable.

I've had mixed luck with my Storage bags.

If you overfill it - the seal breaks over time. That happened with my stuffed animals. But I caught it. Took some stuff out and re-did it.

it does NOT stay permanently. I wish I could say otherwise. However, I've had blankets and costumes stored in the attic in these bags and even if they "poof" out again - the seal wasn't broken that I could see and all was well.

"Space Bags" work great! Target and Walmart sell them in their "As Seen On TV" section, for less than advertised on TV, and no shipping and handling charges : )

Worked great, the first 2 times I used the bags, but after that I don't know if I somehow ripped it or not, but it didn't stay sealed.

I use Space Bags all the time to store out of season stuff. But you do have to be careful because you can easily overfill it. That is the only time I have had a problem with the seal releasing. You can also get them at Bed Bath and Beyond and use their 20% off coupon for it, though may be a better deal online. Also, if you are overzealous with closing or opening the bag, the clip may come off but easy to put back on. What I do like about the bags is that the items have not gotten damp or musty smelling and I have not had to rewash anything.

I bought them at target and used them for our bedding..... air leaks out, and the zipper ripped. You also get a "funky" smell from the storage items. Even after washing, still a faint smell.

Yes, I use them. They were given to me as a gift. They're great, definitely space savers.

I really like mine. I don't remember the brand name, but the ones I have are the kind with a zip-lock, then the opening/seal for the vacuum.

The first time I used them they didn't work so well. Then I read the directions and they worked much better. The trick was to place the empty bag into a box, then fill the bag, then suck the air out with the vacuum. They sit on closet shelves better this way and seems to effect how the air comes out.

I love my Space bags. They are great for storing extra blankets, stuffed animals etc. Just don't over stuff them or they won't work properly.

IME, if you're going to use them to store things for an extended length of time, they're great (Space Bags-vacuum version).
I am using them right now fort extra blankets & linens that are on the highest shelf of my linen closet. Much less space than putting them in a bin or something. If it's going to be a pack and re-pack kind of thing--nope--too flimsy.
Don't overfill and be careful about breaking the seal!

Just get an oversize ziplock (10 gallons or so), fill it, have your kids sit on it and then seal. Works just as well and it sounds alot cheaper.

I bought some at the dollar store before a trip. They were not vacuum, but squeeze. I liked having them. My clothes did not come unfolded as I shifted them around my suitcase. Sometimes I would group "outfits" into the same bag.

The best use was keep dirty separate from clean!

(I do not use them at home. They slide all over each other.)
