Any Good Workout Dvd's for a Teen Girl

My oldest daughter has been using my workout DVD's every now and then but she doesn't really like any of them. I have a couple of the Biggest Loser DVD's & a Weight Watcher DVD that has some mini workouts on it. She workouts out to one of my Biggest Loser DVD's - The 30 Day Shred with Julian Michaels (sp?) but it's an intense workout (or at least for us). My daughter complains that it's not her style and she is often sore afterwards. The Weight Watcher DVD is too easy. She needs something somewhere in the middle which shouldn't be too difficult too find :0) She's in good shape, healthy body weight, etc. she's not looking to lose weight but just to get some exercise in since she isn't taking P.E. in school. She is wishing we had a better selection of workout DVD's. When I ask her if she has anything in mind - dance workout, etc. she says "no". So I guess I could always take her shopping and browse the DVD's but I thought I would check and see if anyone on here has any suggestions?

Thanks in Advance :0)

My first thought was Zumba but I see you asked her about Dance videos and Zumba is dance aerobics. My 16 year old LOVES Zumba as do all her friends. Maybe she could get a group together and find a place nearby that offers it and take it in "real life" :)

Zumba is fun, and you can modify the moves to meet your level of need/ability.

Zumba.
Theres also a dance workout dvd that teaches hiphop dance moves as excercise. It seems less like excercise if you are learning dance moves.

Do you have a Wii? I use Wii's My Fitness Coach. It's just like going to an aerobics class, but you can tailor it to your fitness level. You can change the length of the workout, the music, the background, and the type of workout each time. It also keeps track of your progress and gives you rewards for being consistent. It's too bad she isn't into dance stuff, because Dance, Dance, Revolution is another awesome game/workout and it's really fun!

Hope you find what you're looking for!

ZUMBA! I love zumba, and it is so hip and fun... but if she isn't into dance... kickboxing is a blast! Yoga, Tai chi?

Have her look at the DVDs on Beachbody.com they have all sorts. P90X is a pretty popular one, and is challenging, but is supposed to be loads of fun.

I used to do "yoga booty ballet" DVDs- so fun. In high school I took karate classes and did kickboxing. Zumba is a blast. If you have a game system there are some awesome workout games out there like wii fit and xbox kinect your shape.

Also see if your local REC center has gym equipment. Maybe she could afford a membership and go there to workout with friends? I used to go on long walks all over town with my friends in high school, play hack-a-sack in the town square, snowboard, and hike up our ski hill in the summer.

Hmm - the DVDs I do always make me sore the next day, so she may not be in to them - but, I do the P90X workout and run and spin. Love it.

I saw a post on this site not too long ago where someone was talking about another workout dvd by the "beachbody" franchise that were more "hip". I'd start by browsing their website with your daughter. I bet they even have a few previews online.

I remember doing "the firm" in high school - it had super mario style music - LOL!
Kudos to her for wanting to be active!

I agree with the Zumba and dance suggestions, and maybe also look for kickboxing. I think 30 Day Shred and other DVDs that emphasize weight loss or calorie burn are a bad idea for a teen girl who's at a normal weight. You don't want her to think exercise is something that's all about weight loss or feel guilty if she misses a day or two.

I really think the dancing ones are the way to go! They are age appropriate for her and great cardio as well!
