OK Mamas... I have another question :) I have recently gone through a miscarriage and was wondering what's going on now. It took me around 10 days to finally quit bleeding after the first day of bleeding. That was a few weeks ago. Now, twice this week (yesterday and two days before that) I have been spotting. Does anyone know what's going on with that? It seems that on the days that I am spotting I am also getting the cervical mucus (I think thats what its called). I'm scheduled for a check-up (for the miscarriage) in a week but want to try and figure out what's going on before I go to the doc. Thanks for your help

What can I do next?

Hi Felicia,
I'm going through what you are exactly! I found out on the 17th of dec that my baby's heart stopped beating. I was 4 months pregnant. Then on The 23rd I had a DNE. Iam still bleeding. yesterday it stopped and today Iam spotting. the Dr. told me this could happen do to how far along I was. Also they informed me for 2 weeks not to put anything inside my vagina including tampons. Best of luck as it is hard.

Felicia,
I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Unfortunately, it may just take some time for your body to get back to normal. I had a miscarriage in early January and it took me a couple cycles for everything to be normal again. The further along you were, the more time it may take. I miscarried pretty early and was able to get pregnant again about 3 months later. I am happily 32 weeks along now! Just take some time for yourself to relax and allow your body to heal. Talk to your doctor at your appointment about your concerns, but rest assured that it is normal to have strange things happen after a miscarriage!

I am so sorry about your miscarriage. I just had a miscarriage in April and the same thing happened. Exactly! I had a miscarriage in 1992 also and had similiar symptoms only I bled longer that time. I'm sure it is normal and it is good you are getting a check up also. If you are concerned about your symptoms or they are too uncomfortable, then I'd call your doctor sooner. If you're just curious, then I'm sure it's okay. Good luck to you and again, I am so sorry for your loss!

Sorry to hear about your mc. I've had 4, two of which were in 2nd trimester. As for your bleeding...It depends on how far along you were and if you had a D&C. Sometimes if you don't have the D&C pieces of tissue or placenta can be left in the uterus which would cause abnormal bleeding. If you were 8 weeks or less, sometime the doctors won't do the procedure, they'll just monitor you HCG levels.

First off, I am sorry for what you are going through. I know how hard it is. I think how long you bleed and pass tissue is related to how far along you were when the miscarriage occured. I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks and one at 6 weeks. I bled significantly longer with the first one.

The spotting may also be your body trying to "get back on a schedule". If you are concerned, your dr.'s office probably has a nurse that can talk to you about it and at least let you know if you should see the doc now or wait for your appointment. Hope everything works out as best as it can.

Call your doctor and tell them what is going on, it may be normal. but it is best to let them decide.

It could be two things: 1) after a miscarriage/ birth, sometimes there is spotting before the periods start again; 2)you could be pregnant. I was. Just tell the doctor what is happening. Good luck!

Felicia, I'm sorry for your loss. I also had a miscarriage and D&C a few weeks ago. It's not a fun thing to go through. My bleeding stopped after a couple of weeks, but I've heard that it can be normal for off and on spotting for up to 6 weeks. Because you have a Dr. appt. in a week, I would just ask him about it then. As long as you are feeling fine, I'm sure it's not something to worry about. Good luck with it all!

you may need a D& C if there are still bits of stuff in there it could get infected the best bet is to go for a check up as soon as you can
