A SAFE RIDE HOME FOR A TEEN IN RIO RANCHO AFTER SCHOOL. (From High School)

I have a 16 year old beautiful daughter who attends RR High School. We live 2 miles from the high school and they have no bus to and from school. There are many construction people traveling in the area around the school and I don't want to have my daughter walk home. Especially since we tried that and she was uncomfortable with all the honking and propositions. We take her to school in the mornings but have no one to get her back in the afternoon after school at 2:40pm. I have exhausted my efforts and have called every agency I could, even trying to secure a cab ride for her - but came to find out there are no cabs in RR any longer. I am so frustrated and again, it is upsetting to me. I work in Albq by Coronado Mall and it will be hard to take my lunch at 2pm - drive to the school, pick her up and then drive back. My spouse also works in Albuq., and though we could do this, we are hoping to find another alternative. Her friends that used to help out now have jobs immediately after school, so that rules out friends bringing her home. This will only be through Dec. 06 as her drivers license becomes final at that time and she will be able to drive to and from the school and it will no longer be an issue.

MY QUESTION IS: DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYONE IN RR WHO PICKS UP THEIR CHILD FROM SCHOOL DAILY? AGAIN, THIS IS ONLY FOR PICK UP AS WE TAKE HER? WE ARE WILLING TO PAY, AND/OR FILL UP THEIR GAS TANK AT SAM'S CLUB ONCE PER WEEK.

Maybe there are daycare givers out there who will provide that for us, so if you know of anyone who can assist, please let me know. Email me back!!! Hope to hear from someone! Oh.. and of course, my hubby and I will be interviewing the person if someone is available to assist.

Thanks so much! S.

So What Happened?

Well I contacted MVD and their used to be such a form, however, since they changed the laws regarding teens and driving, there is no longer such a form. Thanks again, Rachael!

If any one else has a suggestion or knows of a caregiver who can spend 1/2 hour per day doing this, please email me. Thanks!

Your answer may lay in another direction. Due to both parents working, and being that she is so close aready to getting her licen. You can file for a hardship for her. With a hardship Licen. she will be able to drive now rather than later. Call the DMV and ask about filing and what is required for a Hardship Licen. Good luck, sorry I can't be of more help to you.

Did you call the transportation dept.? It says they qualify for bussing if they live 2 or more miles from school. Even if its a stop a little past your home and not a special stop I would think it would be ok. Talk to Teresa Saiz shes the head of the Transportation Dept
Heres the link

I have a daughter at RRHS who is a sophmore. Is your daughter involved in any after school activities? We live in Corrales Heights so my daughter rides a bus home, but her friend is involved in ROTC and I pick her up at 4pm everyday after school. If she is able or willing to hang out after school until 4pm I'd be willing to bring her home.
