2Nd C-section - Magnolia,MS

Hi,
I have had two sections. The first one was March 1, 1995 and the second one was March 31, 2003. Because we own a roller skating rink, I wanted to plan my section on a week day so I wouldn't not fall into labor with about 200 kids on a weekend. And yes, that was not almost a problem for me to have a epedural on the second section. I would not worry about that. Talk to your doctor but I'm pretty sure you don't have anything to worry about.

not usually, you get a spinal. I think it would be better. that's what i got it was quick and not very painful. it wears off faster too and no tube stuck in your back

I had 2 planned c-sections, for both they did a spinal. It's like an epedural but doesn't last as long. I was numb from rib cage down for almost 4 hours. The injection is given in the spine just a little higher than the epedural. I was given mine 10 minutes before my c-section. I had no labor at all.

For both of my c-sections I had epidurals. My sister did also. My first c-section was an emergency section and the second one was planned. Both of my sisters were planned. Just ask your doctor he may give you a choice.

It depends on the doctor and hospital.. I had a Spinal for my 2nd C-Section.. It was GREAT!! The epidural didn't give a complete block, and I really hated not feeling my legs.. The spinal is AWESOME!!! I could still feel my legs kinda, and it was complete block.. I was laughing and joking all through the delivery!! I stongly suggest a spinal!!! I was able to move like 15 minutes after the surgery was done. It depends on the hospital if you have to wear a mask, or gets the little oxygen tube things that goes in the nose.. I LOVED that delivery!!

I've had 3 c sections. With two of them, I had spinal taps (you go completely numb from the chest down for a short period of time then they put me on a morphine drip). For my third, I had an epidural catheter ( I continuously received the pain med in my back for 2 days, could still move my legs, but didn't have much incision pain). I much preferred it--I had less pain this way! Ask your doctor what he typically uses. And, if you have a preference, you have the right to ask for it!

A friend of mine just had her 2nd csection which was planned and she did get an epedural.

I am a mother of 2, first child was an unplanned c=section and they even gave me an epidural for that. My second child was a planned c-section and i received a spinal block with her. They should give you the option through your doctors office to receive it. Just be sure to tell your doctor that is what you want as your option for pain control. Is this your first c-section? If so please be sure within 24 hours after you have your baby to get up and move around. Walk as much as you can, sit up and down as much as you can. I did this with my second child and it was a lot easier to cope with the pain from the c-section. I was not near as sore as I was with the first. My doctor also stated that it would help with any muscle contractions that you may get from the epidural/spinal block. Hope my advise has been of any help. Congratulations on your soon arrival!

HI my name is C. an I have a 2 year old boy and expecting another in September I had a unexpected C-Section with my first child. The doctor told me that he will schedule a date for this one and I will go in and they will put a gas mask on you then they will give you a Spinal Block (it nums your whole body and It doesnt hurt near as bad an epedural) Then the hardest part is the waiting for your body to move just so you can go see your baby. I think I waited about 45 min just so that I could wiggle my toes. Hope all goes well for you.

I think that most doctors go for an eppidural unless the patient does not want one. Talk this over with your Dr, but not only are you cutting through your skin, you are cutting through your abdomonal muscles and into your uturus. I would think that to be one of the best forms of pain prevention for a C-section. Are you hoping to get one or avoid one?

I had a planned c-section in 01/2006 & I definately had an epidural.

It depends on the doctor/hospital, but usually they do a spinal block. This method is administered like an epidural, but tends to have better, more complete coverage. Because it punctures the dura space, there is an increased risk of spinal headache, etc.

Are you planning a c-section for a medical reason? Just curious.

Yes they do an epidural.I had a planned c-section and definetly had an epidural.The only way they would put you completely out is if they felt the baby was in complete jeapordy of trouble.GOOD LUCK!

Ask your doctor. If you don't like what your doctor tells you, change doctors. It's your choice how much you feel in child birth. You may even have the option to have a vaginal birth if you want it. It's all dependent on the cut from the first time.

they do usually either an epidural or a spinal....for my 2nd one I had a spinal and my 3rd I had an epidural.

I would ask your doctor to see what his or the hospital's policies are for a planned c-section.

Yes, they do an epidural. I am about to have my 3rd child with a c-section and I wouldn't have it any other way. You go in for your scheduled time and they immediately start your epidural. Approx. 30 minutes later your baby will be here! My epidural lasted about 6 hours and it was great. I had minimal pain and was cleaning the hospital room before leaving. My first was an emergency c-section and I suffered mostly because I pushed for 2.5 hours and cracked my tailbone. I will be having my baby in 18 days and it will be with an epidural. You are completely awake and wont feel a thing. If for some reason you become nauseated during the procedure, make sure you tell the doctor. It just means that your blood pressure is dropping and they give you something by IV and it goes away! Dont hesitate to ask for anything!
