12 Year Anniversary Gift Idea

Does any one have any good ideas for a 12 year anniversary gift? I know traditional is silk and linen, and modern is pearls - all toughies for guys. I'd like to do something a little more unique than boxers, and I just gave him linen shirts for Father's Day. I'd also like it to be classy. I'm stumped this time and anniversary is this weekend...

What can I do next?

Hi A.,
I'd say a classy gift for a husband of 12yrs., would be to, leave children at home. Make reservations to have a candlelight dinner, down in San Diego. But, before,go strolling along the Pier. There are shops, and you can both see all the ships and remenice, and just enjoy each others company.

Happy Anniversary!!!
I agree with first respondant - silk sheets and maybe a silk nighty to go with it. I think it's classy and something guys ALWAYS appreciate. With summer well on it's way, silk sheets will feel great!
Have fun!

Assuming you mean "your" anniv., why not buy new linen sheets for the bed & you wear pearls & silk... Don't forget the bow :) Happy 12th anniversary!

Hi! Since silk is one of your options, have you considered silk boxer shorts? That and a really nice bottle of colonge, and maybe even champagne coupled with strawberries (and maybe even chocolate) would make for a yummy anniversary.

Good luck!

A surprise night away at a nice hotel covers the linens, and you can get him a tie for the fancy dinner out that night and/or a little silk number for you later on! He won't complain!

Hi! Happy Anniversary! My hubby likes the style of shirts worn by Charlie on "Two and a Half Men." You might be able to find a silk style. I've also given him a baseball style hat embordered with our son's swim team logo. Not romantic, but he'll use and like it. I also think he'd like silk bed sheets!

Hi A.,

We just gave a 12 year anniversary gift to my sister and brother-in-law. We gave them a set of fancy pillow cases. Just an idea, you could jazz them up with a sham or something.

Hope this helps with your anniversary planning.

My husband and I have been married almost 12 years, but we started dating in high school. For Christmas last year I hunted down the first cologne I had ever bought for him. It was special for us since I had bought it when we were in 9th grade. Buying your spouse something that reminds them of your courtship always seem special and romantic to me. This helps them to see that you haven't forgotten and that you put alot of thought into their gift. So, I suggest finding something that would remind you two of your first date or an activity that you two use to do together when you were dating. Maybe a movie you two use to watch together or an event that you enjoyed together.

Classy is great, but you know guys best presents you can give them is something for them to have a fun day. Mabye buy him a round of golf, a pair of tickets to go watch baseball, send him fishing, surprise him with 12 candles lit, with his favorite 12 things he loves. Find a babysitter for the night, do something to bring his youth back into his heart. Have sex 12 times, Oh god now I am dreaming LOL oh well ... sure its a day for you both but you can also do this with giving him his day out. But please don't buy the watch they all get a watch LOL

Happy Aniversary

I don't think that my earlier comment went through to you. I suggested maybe making a scrapbook for him or maybe having photos taken of just you and/or maybe you and the kids. Guys always love having photos.

A. ~ Happy Anniversary!! Well, I guess it all depends on what your husband's interests are and what he needs. Personally, I'm a fan of watches. I buy them for my husband all the time. And I like a man with a big watch. Depending on the amount you want to spend you can pick one up almost anywhere. I find that Macy's has a great selection ranging from inexpensive to OMG are you serious expensive!

My husband and his friends are cigar smokers. If your husband is too, you can go to the cigar shop and get a very nice lighter and engrave something on it, a cigar cutter, a humidor, there are endless possibilities in that area. For my husband's birthday, I bought him a new cutter and lighter and he pulls it out in front of his friends and says "check out this!" and they all go whoa! It's funny watching men act like little boys.

If your husband is on the road a lot, you could go to best buy and get him a radar detector, they have a very nice selection and the price varies from $80 to $400 so it's all about whatever you can afford and you don't have to get the most expensive one if he does not drive all the time. My husband loves his an he is only occasionally on long road trips, like if we go up north or snowboarding or to the river, but on those long trips when men have heavy feet, the radar detector has saved us many tickets.

I am a great gift giver (or so I'm told) If your husband doesn't like any of the things I've listed above, feel free to email me with his hobbies or interests and I will see what I can come up with for you.

There are also no cost or little cost items you can do as well, like burn him a CD with his favorite type of music so he can listen to it in the car, you could put a song that you danced to at your wedding, stuff that reminds you of him. You could make him "love" coupons to use throughout the year. Make him his favorite cookies. Sometimes the meaning of the gift is actually more lasting than the gift itself. Put some thought into it. You still have plenty of time for a nice original gift by the weekend.

What about a basket lined with a couple of silk scarf’s with a coupon for a romantic evening! Maybe through in some message oils and chocolate, and a rose. The scarf’s can be used for blind folds, body ticklers, ties (if your into that). But they can be very sensual. And after 12 years of marriage, everyone can use a little spice up in their bedroom! LOL
Have Fun and Congratulations on making it 12 years!

Check out Red Envelope ( www.redenvelope.com ) They've got some great things, beautiful gift wrap (Tiffany's style), and can ship overnight. For Father's Day I got my husband a pair of sterling silver cuff links with his initial. The cool thing is they open up to contain pictures. I put pics of him, me, our son, and our dog. He loved them. Good luck and congratulations on 12 years. This is our 12th year too!

It may be too late to process and it actually takes a lot of time on your end...but, may be a great idea for your next gift!! I have given my hubby a "My Publisher" picture book for the past 3 Father's Day's (we have had a baby every year!). They are sooo great! Shutterfly, Snapfish, all the photo places do them now. They are such great keepers and the whole family enjoys them. We have given them as gifts to the Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles too.

Because you don't have much time...I vote for a wonderful dinner and night away.

Have fun!

Hi A.

There is a company that takes fingerprints of your children and puts them onto sterling silver trinkets, so things like a necklace pendant, a keyring, a pair of cufflinks... I know the anniversary is this weekend, but perhaps you can show him some literature on what he WILL be getting, and then go ahead and get it done as soon as you can?

Either way, don't feel rushed into doing or having something by this weekend... if it takes a little more time/effort, I'm sure your hubby will understand...!

Good luck

My husband is a huge fan of the Andy Griffith show. The entire series is on DVD now. You can get it season by season or the entire thing altogether. It is sweet and family supportive and really fun to watch. I think a lot of guys like it since Andy is such a great example of a level headed, thoughtful dad.
