Iron & vitamin B-12. Blood work would be beneficial. But you asked a question and no one has answered it. Iron & vitamin B-12 will help with energy but it will not fix it.

There's no one vitamin that's connected with energy, and most supplements are just a handful of different vitamins/minerals thrown together with little attention to what the body really needs. Also most are not absorbed. There's an entire food science field that helps with this though, and there are ways to evaluate the credentials of the company that formulates them. I would not do anything that people like Dr. Oz recommend (a different vitamin of the day) - he was just called before Congress and reamed out for his constant shilling for stuff that is untested. I'd look for patents (providing safety & effectiveness as well as uniqueness), membership in certain associations & on advisory boards, credentials of the CSO, non-GMO, etc. That's what I did and it helped enormously, with my lab results even much improved. IT's also useful in counteracting the effects of other things that affect energy level and mood, from thyroid issues to clinical depression to fatigue syndrome and so on. I go to trainings and conferences on this all the time, and I can't tell you how much money people waste on things that aren't proven. A lot of vitamins cause digestive issues as well, so the form they are in and whether they are matched with all the other ingredients needed for proper functioning is really essential. Otherwise you're just eliminating them - a lot of doctors call them "expensive urine" because you pee out everything your body can't utilize. Moreover, most doctors have never taken a nutrition class so they aren't up on this science.

I very much suggest increasing your intake of water, ensuring that you're getting good sleep and eating healthily, and making sure you're exercising regularly. Doing those things will definitely help your energy levels. If, after all those changes, you're still feeling tired, I'd consider a daily vitamin made with whole foods, like Nature's Way ALIVE! for women. You can buy them at any drugstore.

this is a loaded question!!

We're not your doctor. You REALLY need to see your doctor and get a blood test done to find out what's causing your lack of energy and mood.

I would NOT take ANY vitamin or supplement until my doctor told me what I was missing - B12 (it can help with energy) and other supplements can help with mood (St. Johns Wart). However, keep in mind - if that's not what your body is missing? They will NOT help you.

Drink PLENTY of water.
Exercise daily - even 20 minutes of walking will help.
Bed same time - or darn near close to it - every night.

I take vitamin B12 and Iron, but that was after a full blood workup. You need to work with your doctor versus just taking something because it's supposed to do something. I recommend getting a full physical and going from there.

There is more to it than just taking a super powered vitamin.

First of all, you should have a blood workup to see what you are missing in your system.

Secondly, I find that my energy increases after a short brisk walk.

I drink a boatload of water daily.

I am on supplements prescribed by my Dr which include an RX vitamin D, RX vitamin B-12, Biotin, Folate, and Curcumin.

Go get checked out, figure out what is missing and hopefully you will be back to yourself in no time!

it really depends on what's causing you to feel depleted or depressed. without a workup it's impossible to know what your individual deficiencies are. a good place to start is to make sure you're drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, and bump up your dark green leafies and raw veggies. green smoothies with a scoop of raw hemp protein powder are a great thing to add to pretty much anyone's diet.

Others have lots of suggestions. You could go for a complete bloodwork. But look at what you eat and see if anything might be dragging you down. And the suggestion of goin gto bed every night is great---if it results in a good night sleep. I go to bed every night at 1 am---but 4-5 hours is not going to do it for me. You cannot look at one little piece, you need the whole picture.

It might be the food you are eating. Try a cleanse or a very healthy, restricted diet to find out what foods might be causing your low moods and fatigue. For me, I'm finding that sugar and caffeine keep me in a constant state of roller coaster blood sugar that was making me tired and stressed. It's different for everyone, but totally worth a month of clean eating to find out for yourself. I eliminated caffeine, sugar, all grains except rice, gluten, soy, and dairy for 3 weeks now. I have a ton of energy. Earlier in the year I cut out all grains and that diet had the same effect for me. Drink lots of water too. I wouldn't even bother going to the doctor until you've modified your diet for a month, but that's just me. I feel a healthy diet is the way to overall good health.

I agree with others that this is a question for your doctor. I took this exactly question to my doctor a year ago. They did a bunch of bloodwork, and found a few things that were off. I feel so much better than I did then! But worked for me won't necessarily work for you, because the supplements I am taking were chosen based on my bloodwork.

Hi G.,

Everyone needs to supplement with an ABSORBABLE multivitamin. Most don't absorb, that's why most people don't thing a multi doesn't give you energy. Most cause free radical activity as well so an additional antioxidant is necessary for it to do what it's supposed to. The one I take gives me energy. It caused my husbands 110 pound weight loss (healthy bodies don't hold onto excess weight). It arrested my daughters vitiligo. Vitiligo is caused by a lack of absorption of Vitamin B.

If you take a multi for a while and still feel You need more then you can supplement or test or whatever..and go from there but most people that take the vitamin that I'm own, never need more.

Since you live in Ill, you may need to start taking vitamin D. With the coming fall and winter the sun doesn't shine as much and can cause low energy. I usually stop taking D in the summer but I feel I need to start taking it again. I have no energy and it's staying dark longer in the morning. Good luck!!
