So my 10 yr old and I are doing a ceremony at our home.
We are excited. ..... My daughter wants my husband to baptize her.
A pastor will be there.... All is great for that. But I don't know what I
should do. We are not very connected in a spiritual way. We both
believe and we both attend church but we are walking with our God
in different ways, so I am not sure what I should do. I know it is not
really about who baptizes you. I don't want to hurt his feelings, but I
could be good with the Pastor to baptize me, but it bothers me that I
cant say - YES HUBBY..........do it !!!!

What are your thoughts.

What can I do next?

Is there a "rule" that only pastors can baptise? It looks like you want the pastor, right?
So just say, "I want the pastor to baptise me"
See how easy that is.

I'm catholic. I baptised my son because I didn't know if he would make it before the priest arrived to do it. It was a legitimate baptism according to our priest.

It is your day, so go with whoever you feel most comfortable with and I am sure Hubby will understand.

I was baptized as a baby in my childhood church. Because you are an adult, make the decision as to who you want to have baptize you.

It is a wonderful step ! We need more spirituality in this world. So, I am so happy to hear that your daughter is being baptized, too.

At a church program this week, we saw a film with Tony Melendez.
See if you can view it from You Tube. What a beautiful, courageous, spiritual man ! When the Pope met him, it was so wonderful- so touching !

Blessings !

If you're " not very connected in a spiritual way" and you "know it is not
really about who baptizes you," then let your husband do it.

Is your husband am ordained minister? It for me is about who baptizes you. You need a priest or a pastor.

It's ok if you want your husband to do the honors and baptize you as well

would his feelings be hurt? probably he is as aware as you that you have different ways of developing your relationship with the Divine. for something this important, i think it's a pretty big deal that you have a quiet, loving conversation with him. 'i love that katerina wants you to baptize her. and i love you! but i feel that having father X perform the ceremony for me will be the most comfortable. you okay with that, babe?'
my dad baptized me, and i really wanted the ward president to do it, but didn't know how to tell him.
tell your husband.

Praise the Lord! What a special way to solidify that you and your daughter are sisters in Christ!

Baptism is simply you telling the world you are a believer in Christ. Your walk with God will be for the rest of your life so don't think your baptism is the first and/or only step.

Can you combine the official and the sentimental by having your pastor baptize you with your husband watching over you? I'm pretty sure the pastor will "hand you off" to your husband first thing when you come up for hugs and kisses.
