Hi!

I'm an old Mom of three and know some things....if the ringworn ON her mouth or in anyway in her mouth?

Because, Tinactin is useful in ringworm but I would not use it if she will ingest it. I don't think sucking her hair is the cause of ringworm.

Remember - the Public Health Unit is always available - maybe not fast and friendly - but they are trained medical people.

Wash the area with soap and water - then add the antifungal cream.

Hope this helps

This is really weird but it works trust me. Go get some jock itch cream and keep the ringworm area really clean. It might hurt a little with it being by her mouth, but wash it with a warm wash cloth and bust the blasters open and then clean it really good with soap and warm water. Afterwards dry it really good and put the jock itch cream on it. Do this at least twice a day until it is gone. Three times a day is better.

And tell her she will keep getting them if she keeps sucking on her hair. And let her know that sucking on her hair can mess up tummy and going to the bathroom (big job).

Hope this helps.

My four year old son has had one on his face for 2 weeks now. I started out using over the counter ointment for atheletes foots (all it is, is a fungus just like athelete's foot just somewhere else on the body). it was getting better, then started getting worse. A lady a work with said her son had them bad at one time and to put a very small amount of bleach on it with a Q tip It will burn some, but in two days it was gone. Now you can hardly tell he had it

use UN-REFINED virgin coconut oil to get rid of the ring-worm. it has amazing healing properties as well as being a NATURAL ANTI-FUNGAL...and since it's a food there won't be a problem with her swallowing any of it! My 4 year old daughter loves to eat it by the spoonful. Do a little research yourself, but i recommend it to people for a lot of uses. i've ordered the books and researched many of its benefits. i order it on-line from www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com because i believe them to have a very high quality product, but there are other websites out there and you might get lucky and find it in a store (just make sure it is un-refined, which means it has not been heated and has not used chemicals to process it). you can buy a small sample jar for 3 or 4 bucks at the website i suggested. coconut oil can also be used as a treatment in her hair. it will also get rid of dandruff, lice, plus make your hair super shiny and healthy. good luck!

M.,
At the Malvern Wal-Mart on the vitamin isle, on the bottom shelf at the end closest to the pharmacy in the natural stuff you can find pharmaceutical grade Tea Tree Oil. Dab it on her mouth at least three or more times a day. Put a couple of drops of the oil in your hand with the shampoo when you wash her hair as well. Tea Tree Oil is a natural anti-fungal that works better and faster than any over the counter anti-fungal creme. I have cured cats, kids, myself, and many friends this way.

Hi Friend: If you haven't been told by now. Ringworm is a fungus infection. What works on animals is Tinture of Violet. Not many pharmacies carry Tof V unless they have a wellness or generic section. It is purple and stains purple. Fungus infections are very difficult to resolve. Go to the Doctor particularly if they use homeopatic methods.

We just ended a 1 year battle with a ringworm. It would have only taken about a week to treat, but it was misdiagnosed at a skin rash. Since it's in or around her mouth I would see her doctor. Anywhere else you could probably use an anti fungal cream. Once we started using an rx for the ringworm it healed in a couple of weeks. Don't use any steriod creams, it makes it worse.

Is it ringworm or head lice? Reason being I haven't heard of ringworm infections on the hair. Diluting 1 tsp of white vinegar to 5 tsp purified water and applying it directly to the ringworm several times a day seems to work for our grandchildren. Also there is a cream called Lamisil that be bought over the counter that helps as well as the creams women buy over the counter for a common yeast infection. The last one was just recommended by a doctor for our 14 mo. old grand daughter who has a ringworm spot.

Try OTC Lotrimin or Monistat first and if that doesn't work then your doctor can prescribe an antifungal cream. Ringworm can be tough to get rid of sometimes. I had it last summer and tried several home remedies and then switched to the Lotrimin and still couldn't get rid of it. My doctor called me in the antifungal cream which still did not clear it up so she had to call me in a precription oral pill that finally got it taken care of. Mine were on my arm and have left scars but my doctor assures me they will go away. I am hoping that they will be less noticable when I get a little sunshine on my skin. Good luck!

Because it is around her mouth, I'd consult with a doctor first. Not all over-the-counter antifungals are safe for internal consumption, and anything put around the mouth will get into the mouth! You also didn't mention how old your daughter is...

Tea tree oil may be one holistic option to try. It is an essential oil with antifungal properties and can safely be applied directly to skin (though again, internal consumption is not recommended.)

Ringworm is a fungal infection. Doubt she got it from sucking on her hair.

Take her to the doctor if it is ringworm he can prescribe an antifungal.

Also, if she is sucking her hair she could get a hairball that can make her very sick. To stop her try cutting her hair or pulling it away from her face.

You can take iodine(sold over the counter). Quickly make a circle around the worm area an then fill in the circle with it ( a lot like painting it) this will dry it up within a couple days. Make sure you do the circle fast so the worm cannot escape to a new area. Also do not be afraid to use enough to do the job right but not so much it runs off. It will discolor the skin for a day or two but will get rid of the ringworm.

for the head ringworm buy some betadine and some nizoral (medicated shampoo). dab betadine on ringworm and let sit for 2-3 minutes. wash off then wash hair in nizoral and let it sit on for 3-5 minutes then wash out. this will help but you will probably need to get salve in addition to this. we followed the above steps and then after washing hair we put salve on the spot. this will probably help too with the face (less the nizoral shampoo). however, more than likely you will have to get salve from doctor.

forget creams. press a quarter or nickel onto the ringworm for maybe 30 seconds. In a few days it should be gone. My sister had several from playing with cats and we even had a perscription that wasn't doing any good and a friend tried this on her and it worked! apparently it is the silver that kills them.
