Girl Scout Meeting Locations?

You could check to see if local churches might be willing to host your group -they might, especially if one of the girls' families is a member of the church. Do any of the girls live in an appt complex that has a club house that they might let you use? You could offer to do some community service projects in exchange for meeting room space. (i.e. plant flowers, assist with a church carnival, etc.) You might see if there were any parents that might be willing to let you have troop meetings at their houses. What about at a senior development? Do they have space that they might let you use and some of the residents might have wonderful skills they could share. Good luck!

My daughter's troop has met at a school, a church, the community center of a housing development, and at our local Girl Scout center. When I was in GS we met in a meeting room at the local library. For bigger events we met in a meeting room at a local bank. Maybe a senior citizens' center. You could do some great inter-generational activities. A community recreation center? A local service organization like an Eagles Club, Kiwanis Club or even a VFW?

We met at the library, community center, various parks and each others' homes.

We had ours at a local church in the basement. It had a kitchen so we could do just about any project we wanted to.

We've used community buildings too.

We meet at our local fire station in one of their meeting rooms. When I was in girl scouts we met at a church. Some places may charge you to have meetings but I lot will let you have the meetings there free since it's the girl scouts. Just check around in your area for one of these places. Good luck!!!!

We have had them in the library's meeting room, and in the meeting room of our neighborhood grocery store.

You can NOT meet in anyone's home!!! That is majorly against GS regulations. Also, did you know that you will have to pay for every parent that stays at your meetings on your insurance? I'm my daughter's troop leader so I've been through this. You need insurance on every person that is at every meeting. The girls are included as long as they are registered Girl Scouts.

Why don't you want to use the school though? Is there not a space for you? I would go with a nearby church or library or even a community center. The problem is you will likely have to pay for the use of those rooms, whereas you likely would not have to pay to use the school facility.

A park isn't a bad idea for a free idea, but I would look indoors for most of the time.

If you're looking for like activity places Michael's, JoAnn's, fire stations, libraries, Build A Bear, etc. are all great places. Many of them already have lessons/activities in place for scout troops. (but you will have to fill out field trip forms and insurance for them too, fyi ;-))

Our church hosts at least one cub scout troop in one of our meeting rooms. I would ask churches, libraries, community centers, perhaps meet at a park in good weather (and work on a badge?). Etc. When SD was in scouts, they used the school.

Can you meet at one of the meeting rooms at a local rec center? church? pavilion at a park? Library?

Ours was held at the school. My daughter was held at one of the girls churches. But Catholic schools have mostly banned girl scouts from their schools so it would need to be outside of that venue if you have a Catholic school.

My daughters' troop meets at our park district.

A coffee shop, a bakery, a restaurant, a bar, a police station, a museum, town hall, the courthouse, the mall, a post office, a hotel, a pool, a golf club, a shooting range, a factory, a hair salon, any number of businesses/ local agencies might have a room/ space large enough and be willing to accommodate you, especially if your meetings fall during their downtimes.
