Clothes/fabric That Bleeds

I ordered some great blouses online for myself for Christmas, and I really like them, except that the fabric bleeds. They even stain my bras! I handwash them in cold water like the instructions say, and I keep hoping they will stop bleeding, but they don't. Does anyone have any tips for getting fabrics to stop bleeding?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks, ladies! I will try the vinegar first and if that doesn't work I'll give the salt a try.

Soak in cold water with vinegar. I'm a knitter and do this when my yarn hasn't been set correctly. Works every time.

You can try adding half cup of white vinegar to the water when you wash them. I did this twice for one of my daughter's shirts and while it did bleed a bit the first time, the second was just a bit and the third was a very very slight color to the water.

Soak it overnight in cold salt water. Use as much water as it takes to cover the fabric and as much salt as you can force into solution.

Like the other responses, I agree trying the vinegar solution and or salt, I personally haven't tried the salt, but have the vinegar.

There is a type of CLOTH, that you can buy, (I think I got mine from Walmart), that absorbs the dye's from the water and doesn't stain the other clothes. It escapes me the name of it, but it looks like a white wash cloth and is about the same size.

I think it might be called a DYE MAGNET, but not sure.

I have had mine for years and it still works but with absorption of the dyes, it looks very dark gray now. Someone told me about it and I've had clothes "bleed" and that cloth kept dyes from absorbing into the other clothes. You just throw it in the washing machine with your clothes that can fade.
